Custom Page | Troubleshooting blank content

Custom pages help personalize your Shoplazza storefront with landing pages, policy pages, and promotional content. If a custom page appears blank or doesn’t display properly, it's usually due to a layout disconnection or formatting issue. This guide will walk you through how to identify and resolve these problems so that your content displays correctly on your storefront.

Note

To learn more about creating and managing content, refer to Custom pages | Creating and managing store content and Other Pages | Creating custom pages for your store.

Checking custom page visibility in your theme

A blank custom page usually means it’s not properly connected to your theme layout. Even if you’ve already added this page to your storefront menu, the content won’t show unless the “Custom page” card is included and visible in your theme editor. This card is typically added by default, but it might have been removed or hidden during previous edits.

To make sure the page displays properly, go into the theme editor and check that the card is added, visible, and published.

To link this page to your storefront menu, follow the steps in Create pages and add them to the navigation menu.

1. Access the theme editor: From Shoplazza admin, go to Online store > Themes, then choose the theme you're currently using and click Customize to open the editor.

2. Select the custom page you want to edit: In the top dropdown menu, scroll down to Custom page, then click to open it. Select Default page or any specific custom page you’ve created.

3. Check if a Custom page card exists: In the left-hand section list, look for the Custom page card.

4. Unhide the card if it’s hidden: If the card exists but is not visible, hover over the title and click the eye icon to enable it, then click Publish to save changes.

5. Add the card if it’s missing: If there’s no Custom page card, click Add section, search for Custom page, add it to the layout, and Publish the theme again.

Clearing problematic formatting in the custom page

If your custom page appears blank even though content is visible in the editor, the issue may be caused by hidden or incompatible formatting. This often happens when copying content from Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or websites. These sources may introduce styles or code that Shoplazza cannot process.

To fix this:

1. Open the custom page editor: From Shoplazza admin, go to Online store > Custom page to see a list of all custom pages in your store. Click the title of the page you'd like to edit.

2. Clearing formatting from copied content: In the Page settings editor, highlight all content that might include problematic formatting. This is especially important if the text was copied from another platform. Click the Clear formatting button in the toolbar to remove any hidden styles or code that could interfere with the display. Click Save to update your changes.

Checking table formatting settings

If your custom page includes a table that doesn’t appear on the storefront, the issue is likely related to its border setting. Tables with a border value of 0 are present but not visible.

To ensure the table displays properly:

1. Opening the custom page editor: From Shoplazza admin, go to Online store > Custom page and click the title of the page containing the table you want to fix.

2. Selecting the table: In the Page settings editor, click anywhere along the top border of the table. This will reveal a toolbar directly beneath the table.

3. Opening the table properties: In the toolbar that appears, click the Table properties icon (a small square with a grid), as shown below.

4. Set a visible border value: Make sure the border value is set to 1 or higher. A value of 0 will prevent the table from displaying, even if the content is correctly entered. Click OK when finished, then reload your storefront to confirm the table now displays correctly.

Getting additional support

If your custom page still appears blank after checking the theme layout, clearing formatting, and updating table settings, there may be a more complex issue with your content or theme configuration. If the issue persists after trying all the above steps, we recommend reaching out to Shoplazza Support for further assistance.

  • Contacting Shoplazza Support: Visit the Shoplazza Support  page to submit a help request. Be sure to include the page name, steps you've already taken, and any screenshots that show the issue. You can also use the Live Chat feature by clicking the chat icon in the bottom right corner of the same page for real-time assistance during support hours.
  • Checking your spam or junk folder: Some support responses may be filtered by your email provider. If you're waiting for a reply, check your spam or junk folder to ensure you don’t miss important updates.

Blank custom pages in Shoplazza usually stem from missing layout components or formatting errors. By checking your theme structure, removing incompatible styles, and adjusting visibility settings, you can quickly resolve most display issues.
