Shoplazza native reviews | Setting up and configuring reviews

Adding product reviews helps build trust, enhance transparency, and support informed purchase decisions. The native reviews feature is built directly into your Shoplazza admin, so there’s no need to install a third-party app unless already in use. This guide explains how to enable reviews, configure review settings, and understand how display options change depending on whether the Product Detail Reviews card has been added to your theme.

Enabling reviews

Begin by enabling the native reviews feature in your admin to access review settings.

1. Access the reviews module: Go to Shoplazza admin > Products > Reviews and click Enable now.

2. Turn on the feature: In the Reviews settings page, click the toggle to enable reviews, then click Save in the top-right corner.

Configure review settings before adding the Product Detail Reviews card

If the Product Detail Reviews card has not been added to your theme, all native review settings are located under the Settings tab in the Reviews settings page.

1. Open the reviews settings: Go to Shoplazza admin > Products > Reviews, then click Settings in the top-right corner.

2. Use the Settings tab: Stay on the Settings tab to configure how reviews function across your store.

3. Customer reviews: Enable or disable the entire reviews feature. When enabled, customer reviews will be shown on your storefront.

4. Auto-publish: Choose whether reviews should be published automatically and define the minimum star rating required.

5. Review requirements: Choose what customers must complete to leave a review:

  • Order placed successfully
  • Delivery confirmed
  • No requirements

6. Review disclaimer: Add a short message that appears below the customer reviews section. This can clarify how reviews are handled or what they represent.

7. Links: Add optional URLs to support or clarify your review policy.

8. Show rating distribution: Enable this option to show review ratings as a percentage when total reviews are fewer than a defined number.

9. Filter by keywords: Block reviews containing specific words or phrases. Use Enter to separate multiple keywords.

10. Enable display of reviewer countries: Show or hide the customer’s country of origin.

11. Enable anonymous reviews: Allow or disallow customers to submit reviews without showing their name.

12. Use the Display position tab: Switch to the Display position tab to control how reviews appear on your storefront:

  • Number of reviews displayed per page: Set how many reviews show on each product page.
  • Product page star ratings: Choose to show star ratings under the product title or hide them.
  • List page star ratings: Show or hide star ratings under the title on the homepage, collection page, and other product lists.
  • When there are no reviews: Choose whether to display or hide star ratings when no reviews have been submitted.

13. Save your settings: Click Save in the top-right corner to apply all changes.

Adding the Product Detail Reviews card

Adding the Product Detail Reviews card to your product page updates the way reviews are managed and unlocks additional features. It replaces the older layout-based display settings with more advanced options directly inside the theme editor. This provides greater control over how reviews appear and behave on your storefront.

1. Open theme editor: Go to Shoplazza admin > Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your active theme.

2. Navigate to product pages: Use the top dropdown menu in the theme editor to switch to the Default product page.

3. Add the review section: Click Add section, search for Product Detail Reviews card, and add it to the product page.

4. Customize layout settings: Click the card title to configure sync conditions, layout, title, description, and color. Adjust these as needed.

Once the Product Detail Reviews card is added, the settings panel under Products > Reviews > Settings will change. Layout controls previously located under the Display position tab are removed, and all settings are now consolidated into a single view. These updated settings work alongside the theme editor to give you more flexibility.

1. Review module: Toggle the entire review feature on or off.

2. Review requirements: Choose when customers are allowed to submit a review:

  • No requirements
  • Order placed successfully
  • Delivery confirmed

3. Auto-publish: Set whether reviews are automatically published, and choose the minimum star rating required.

4. Enable percentage rating: Display review ratings as a percentage once a minimum number of reviews is reached.

5. Filter by keywords: Block reviews that include specific words or phrases. Use Enter to separate multiple entries.

6. Show rating stars under the title of products: Select where star ratings appear:

  • Product page
  • Homepage, collection page, and other product lists.

7. No-review visibility: Choose whether to show or hide star ratings when no reviews exist.

8. Variants: Toggle visibility for each of the following review display features:

  • Display reviewer countries
  • Display the verification badge
  • Display “Likes” within a review
  • Display “Reviews date” within a review
  • Display “Reply” within a review
  • Star color: Adjust the visual color of the star rating.

9. Enable anonymous reviews: Allow or disallow customers to submit reviews without showing their name.

10. Save your settings: Click Save in the top-right corner to apply your changes.

Important behavior change

Before the Product Detail Reviews card is added, layout and visibility settings for reviews are located under the Display position tab in Products > Reviews > Settings. These settings let you control where and how star ratings appear across your store.

After the card is added in the theme editor, the Display position tab is removed. All display settings, including layout, visibility, and appearance, are now managed through the card itself or in the updated Settings tab. This change provides greater control and real-time customization directly in the storefront editor.

To adjust layout settings again after adding the card, return to the theme editor and click the Product Detail Reviews card.
