Discounts | Setting Up Tiered Amount Off Promotions

Boost your average order value and reward high-value customers with tiered Amount Off promotions in Shoplazza. Offer flexible discounts like “Spend $100, Save $10” or “Buy 3 items, Get 15% Off” to encourage larger purchases and improve conversion.

Start a new discount campaign

1. Log in to your Shoplazza admin: Go to Discounts > Discounts, then click Create Discount.

2. Choose discount type: After clicking Create Discount, the Select discount type panel will appear. Under Amount Off, choose how the discount should apply:

  • Order discount: Applies the promotion to all items in the cart. Ideal for storewide campaigns where every product automatically qualifies.

  • Product discount: Applies the promotion only to specific products or collections. This gives you more control over eligible items.

Set up your Amount Off campaign

Define the core settings of your campaign, including its name, active period, and how it appears during checkout.

1. Enter your campaign information

  • Add an Internal Name to help you identify the campaign in your admin.
  • Create a Display Name that customers will see at checkout and in the cart.
  • Set the Start and End Time to determine when the campaign becomes active.

2. Define discount rules and tiers

Decide how the discount will apply and define the conditions customers need to meet to unlock savings. You can create up to 10 discount tiers, based on cart value or item quantity.

  • Quantity-based percentage discount

This discount increases the percentage off as customers add more items to their cart. It’s ideal for promoting bulk purchases.

In the Discount rules section, enter the item quantity and the corresponding percentage discount. Click Add Discount Tier to add up to 10 levels.

    • Example setup:
      • Buy 2 items → 10% off
      • Buy 4 items → 20% off
      • Buy 6 items → 30% off
    • At checkout:

At checkout, Shoplazza automatically applies the highest eligible tier to all qualifying items. For example, 6 items receive 30% off. If a customer buys 3 items, they get 10% off, since the next tier starts at 4.

    • How it works:
      • Each order will receive the best available tier based on the purchase total.
      • All qualifying items receive the same percentage based on the highest tier reached.
      • Shoplazza ensures only one discount tier is applied per purchase to avoid stacking.

  • Spend-based amount off

Apply a fixed-dollar discount when the cart subtotal reaches a certain amount. This is effective for increasing total order value.

In the Discount rules section, enter the spend threshold and discount amount. Click Add Discount Tier to create up to 10 levels.

    • Example setup:
      • Spend $100 → $5 off
      • Spend $150 → $10 off
      • Spend $200 → $15 off
    • At checkout:
      • At checkout, Shoplazza automatically applies the highest eligible tier to the customer’s order. For example, a $200 order gets $15 off. The discount does not stack across different tiers.
      • To apply the same tier multiple times, enable Allow multiple discounts per order. For example, if your only tier is “Spend $100 → $5 off” and the customer spends $300, they receive $15 off.
    • How it works:
      • Only the highest eligible tier applies per order.
      • To repeat the same discount (e.g. $5 off every $100), set a single tier and enable "Allow multiple discounts per order".
      • Spend total is calculated based on products included in the campaign.

  • Quantity-based amount off

Offer a fixed-dollar discount based on the number of items in the cart. This option works well for selected product sets or bulk order incentives.

In the Discount rules section, enter the item quantity and corresponding dollar amount. Click Add Discount Tier to define up to 10 levels.

    • Example setup:
      • Buy 5 items → $10 off
      • Buy 10 items → $25 off
      • Buy 15 items → $40 off
    • At checkout:

The system automatically applies the highest eligible tier per order. If Allow multiple discounts per order is enabled, the same tier can be applied multiple times.

For example, if the discount is $10 off for every 5 items, then buying 10 items will apply the discount twice, for a total of $20 off.

    • How it works:
      • By default, only the highest tier applies once per order.
      • Enable "Allow multiple discounts per order" to apply the same tier repeatedly.
      • Quantity is calculated based on qualifying items only.

  • Spend-based percentage discount

This discount applies a percentage off based on the total cart value. It’s designed to encourage customers to spend more.

In the Discount rules section, enter the minimum spend and the matching percentage. Click Add Discount Tier to build up to 10 levels.

    • Example setup:
      • Spend $100 → 10% off
      • Spend $200 → 20% off
      • Spend $300 → 30% off
    • At checkout:

The system applies the highest eligible percentage discount to all qualifying items. For example, if the cart subtotal is $250 and the tier is “Spend $200 → 20% off,” the customer receives 20% off the applicable items. If the highest tier isn’t reached, the best lower tier is applied automatically.

    • How it works:
      • Only one percentage tier is applied per order
      • All qualifying items receive the same discount percentage
      • Shoplazza calculates the discount using the subtotal of qualifying products.

3. Choose eligible products (Product Discount only)

If you're setting up a Product Discount, define which products or collections should be included or excluded.

You can:

  • Specify applicable products or collections
  • Specify excluded products or collections

For Order Discounts, this step is not required. They apply automatically to all products in the cart.

4. Target customers

Control who can access your promotion by defining your target audience:

  • Apply to All customers
  • Target Specific customer segments
  • Select individual customers

Tailor your offer for loyalty tiers, VIP groups, or marketing lists. Personalizing the promotion helps increase relevance and return on investment.

5. Set usage limits

Control how often your promotion can be redeemed by setting:

  • A maximum number of total uses across the entire campaign
  • A maximum number of uses per customer to prevent overuse

6. Enable discount combinations

In the Combinations section, you can allow this Amount Off campaign to stack with other discount types. Compatible combinations include:

  • Product discounts: e.g. 10% off specific items
  • Order discounts: e.g. Spend $200, save $20
  • Shipping discounts: e.g. Free shipping over $100

To enable stacking:

  • Check the boxes next to the discount types you want this campaign to work with.
  • Make sure the other discount campaigns also allow stacking for the combination to apply.
  • Once enabled, Shoplazza will display a list of compatible promotions. You can expand this list to review the details of each campaign. Click Save to complete your combination settings.

Customize storefront display

Decide how your Amount Off discount will be displayed to customers across your storefront. You can apply overall settings rules for all Amount Off campaigns, or customize the appearance for an individual campaign.

Set up overall display settings for Amount Off campaigns

1. Access your display settings: Go to the Discounts page in your admin and click Page settings in the top-right corner.

2. Open overall Amount Off settings: Click the Overall settings tab, then select Amount Off to access the default display settings for this discount type.

3. Customize the visual appearance:

Use the settings panel to control how the discount is displayed on both the Product detail page and the Shopping cart.
  You can:

  • Switch between Product detail page and Shopping cart tabs to configure each display.
  • Choose your layout: Text, Tag, or Banner.
  • Select your color style: Default theme or Custom colors.
  • Set your layout for tiered discounts: Collapsed or Expanded view.
  • Customize the messaging for each discount type:
    • Spend-based amount off
    • Spend-based percentage discount
    • Quantity-based amount off
    • Quantity-based percentage discount
  • Insert dynamic variables like {min_amount} or {discounted_value} to automatically populate your messaging.
  • Preview changes instantly in the live preview panel.

4. Save your settings: Click Save to apply these overall settings to all “Amount Off” campaigns.

Configure display settings for your campaign

After saving the campaign setup, configure how the discount is displayed on your store pages. This step ensures that the promotion appears correctly on the product detail page, the shopping cart page, and the activity landing page. These settings can be customized per campaign or inherit your overall display rules.

1. Open Page settings and select your campaign: Go to Discounts, then click Page settings in the upper-right corner of the screen. From the list, find the discount you just created and click into it to begin configuring the display.

2. Adjust the display for each page: Configure how the discount appears on the following pages. You can also customize how each page displays the discount, including the tier layout on the product detail page, the discount label on the cart page, and the countdown timer on the activity landing page. If you want to override the overall display settings and customize this campaign independently, disable the Same as overall settings toggle.

3. Product detail page

  • Set how multi-tier offers are displayed: choose between Collapsed or Expanded layout.

4. Shopping Cart Page

  • Customize how discount tiers are presented in the cart.
  • Use the Reset text option to revert to the default messaging.

5. Activity Landing Page

  • Enable or disable the countdown timer. For campaigns without an end date, you can set a simulated countdown.

  • Configure the discount description:
    • Auto-generate the default text
    • Manually edit the content as needed
    • Click Reset text to restore the default version

  • Access enhanced product display settings for additional customization.

Publish campaign

After your campaign is fully configured, make sure it's visible to customers by adding display components to your store theme.

Note

The Discount automatic and Discount banner on cart page components are shared with Nth Item Discount campaigns. You only need to install them once per page.

Add display cards to your theme

1. Access theme editor: Go back and click the Product detail page tab, then click the Themes - Apps section link. This opens the theme editor directly on your store’s default product page layout.

2. Add to product pages:

  • In the Product detail page layout, click Add block.

  • Select Discount automatic to display the campaign directly below the product information.

3. Add to the cart page:

  • From the Theme Editor, click the page selector dropdown at the top, then choose Cart to switch to the cart page layout.

  • On the Cart page, click Add section to insert a new display block.

  • Select Discount banner on cart page to show progress-based promotions and upsell messages.

4. Publish your theme: Once everything is set, click Publish in the theme editor to push your updates live. Your promotion will now be visible on product and cart pages, helping customers clearly see their savings in real time.

Tiered Amount Off promotions are highly effective for increasing average order value and encouraging bulk purchases. Once your campaign is live, customers will see exactly how much they’re saving—driving higher engagement and conversion.
