What to do if I get an error stating ''Description missing or description too short'' on product precheck in GMC?

Performing a product precheck ensures that your product listings comply with Google's policies, reducing the risk of disapproval or suspension of your GMC account. A thorough product precheck ensures that your listings contain accurate and relevant information, increasing the chances of visibility and attracting potential customers. Therefore, it's recommended to add a detailed product description while you're processing a GMC product precheck.

Possible reasons

1. The system first checks if the product has an SEO description on the Product Detail Page (referred to as "SEO description"). If the product does not have an SEO description, the system will pull the content from the Product Description field and if none of the descriptions have been added yet, the error will pop up.

2. The system does not support pulling HTML format content. Content enclosed within < > tags, including front-end style codes, will not be crawled. Only plain text content from the product description can be crawled. If you have unsupported HTML in your product or SEO description, then the error will pop up.

Troubleshooting the Issue

To address this issue, there are two solutions available:

Method 1:

In the Shoplazza store management background, follow these steps:

1. Access the Product Detail Page of the respective product by going to Shoplazza Admin > All products > click edit to your selected product.

2. Add the product description or SEO description information to the product.

Note

Ensure that the tags and formats used in the SEO description or product description are supported. Content enclosed within < > tags, including front-end style codes, will not be crawled. Only plain text content from the product description can be crawled.

After making the necessary updates, wait for GMC (Google Merchant Center) to automatically synchronize and re-check the product. The system will detect the product update and initiate an automatic re-grab and pre-check. Please allow approximately 0.5-2 hours for the system to automatically re-check the product.

Method 2:

This method only changes the product pre-check information within Shopping Ads > Products Precheck. The changes made through this method will not be reflected in the SEO description or product description within the Shoplazza Admin > Product Detail Page.

1. You can add the description by going to the Products Precheck page, and click on the Settings Icon to edit the product attributes of your selected products.

2. In the right-hand panel of your screen, you can add the description to the designated box. Click confirm after editing.

By following these steps, you can address the "Missing Product Description" error effectively and ensure that your product description is properly displayed without any issues.
