Third-party payment providers

Shoplazza supports two different types of credit card payment providers: direct providers and external providers.

Direct provider

A direct provider allows customers to complete their purchases without the third-party provider. A direct provider only offers services to be the host and processor of your transactions through credit/debit card payments and processes your transactions in 3 steps:

  1. Authorization
  2. Capture
  3. Settlement

If you're using a direct provider, your customers can complete their purchases directly on your online store without having to pay at a third-party checkout.

External provider

When setting up payment methods, you are given the option to have credit/debit cards hosted by a Payment Service Provider (PSP) to receive payment from customers, these types of payment services are often times referred to as external providers.  An external provider generally asks you to sign up on their websites and use the account jointly to process payments. Some of the most common external PSPs are PayPal, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, and Stripe.   If you're using an external provider, your customers must complete their purchases on a checkout page that's hosted outside of your online store.
