Auto-translating your store content helps reach a wider audience and improve the shopping experience by eliminating the need for manual translations. Various auto-translation options help streamline the process and minimize manual effort. Below are the main methods to set up translations in your store.
Multilingual settings app
The Multilingual settings app offers automatic translation for merchants operating in a single market. It detects the customer's browser language and translates store content accordingly while also allowing customers to switch between languages using a dropdown menu in the header or footer. We recommend installing the Geolocation app to enhance accuracy and localization, which helps detect customers' locations and automatically display the most relevant language. This app eliminates the need for manual translations by enabling auto-translation, making providing a seamless multilingual experience easier. To enable multilingual settings:
1. Download the Multilingual Settings app: Find it in the Shoplazza App Store and install it.
2. Add languages: Open the Multilingual settings app and select the languages you want to support.
3. Enable the plugin: Turn on the plugin to activate auto translation.
4. Download the Geolocation app: This app helps detect customers' locations and display the appropriate language automatically.

Multi-language translator app
Before using this app, ensure that languages have been added in Shoplazza Admin > Settings > Languages, as the app uses this information to determine available languages. If you need automatic translation of store content, the Multi-Language Translator app provides an easy way to translate various key areas of the store. It can automatically translate product names and descriptions, ensure product collections appear in the selected language, and convert blog posts for international customers. Additionally, it supports translating gift card messages, navigation menus, and custom store pages, making it a comprehensive solution for multilingual support. To use this feature:
1. Install the Multi-Language Translator app: Find it in the Shoplazza App Store and install it.
2. Select the sections to translate: Open the Multi-Language translator app, choose the areas you want to translate and click Translate.
Note
For more information on how to set up the Multi-Language settings app, refer to our help doc: Guide to multi-language settings.
Markets (for international stores)
When using Markets, avoiding the Multilingual settings app is best to ensure a smooth language display and store functionality. For stores with multiple markets, the Markets feature ensures seamless auto-translation and localization of content. To enable various languages:
1. Add languages in settings: Go to your Shoplazza Admin > Settings > Languages and add the languages you need.
2. Translate theme and content: Selecting Translate theme content will redirect you to Online Store > Themes > More Options > Edit Languages, where you can modify theme text. Choosing Translate custom content will take you to the Multi-Language Translator app, allowing you to translate store pages, product details, and more.
Note
For more information on how to set up default languages in Markets, refer to our help doc: Changing the market default language (for multi-market merchants).
Providing automatic translations enhances accessibility, making it easier for international customers to navigate and shop in their preferred language. This improves user experience, builds trust, and increases the likelihood of conversions. Whether you are catering to a single market or managing multiple international storefronts, selecting the right translation method ensures smooth communication and a seamless shopping journey for your global audience.
