Other Settings | FAQ: Customizing Your Shoplazza Storefront

This FAQ offers helpful guidance on how to customize different parts of your Shoplazza storefront, from your homepage and product pages to navigation, collection filters, and advanced card settings. It also clarifies theme-specific limitations and explains how to use theme tools effective

Homepage Customization

Q: Can I use an image as the website background?

A: Background images aren't currently supported. Instead, you can select a solid color as your website background in the theme settings.

Q: Will I lose my storefront layout after upgrading the theme?

A: Your existing layout will remain intact after upgrading the theme. However, if you’ve manually edited the theme code, those custom changes will need to be reapplied. For full details, see Other Settings | Upgrading your theme.

Q: Why does my store look different from the theme editor preview?

A: Changes made in the theme editor won’t appear on your live site until you click Publish. Once published, the new version will replace the current one and this action can’t be undone. To prevent accidental changes, consider backing up your theme first. For full instructions, see Homepage | Guide to the Shoplazza Theme Editor.

Q: What are additional sections?

A: Additional sections are flexible add-on cards that operate independently of your main theme settings. They allow you to customize individual design elements like font size and color directly within each card. To learn how to add and manage them, see Homepage | Adding sections to your theme.

Q: How do I add social media icons to my site?

A: In the theme editor, open the Footer, click Add block, and choose Contact and social to enter your social profile links. In some themes, links may need to be added under Theme settings > Social Media instead. For more guidance, see Configuring your store's footer.

Q: Can the footer menu show multiple menu levels?

A: Only the Boost theme supports second-level links in the footer. All other themes display top-level links only.

Q: How do I add labels like “Hot” or “New” to menu items?

A: In the Header section, click Add block, select Menu label, and then customize the text. For full steps, see: Header | Adding a menu label.

Q: Can I stop the menu from collapsing into “More Links”?

A: This behavior is based on the fixed width of your theme’s header navigation. When too many items are added, the extra ones automatically move under “More Links.” You can show more items by adjusting your header layout or using a smaller font size.

Q: Can I add images to my top navigation menu?

A: This depends on your theme. Some themes, such as Geek and Wind, support the Show first product in mega menu setting, which displays the first product image from a linked collection. If this option isn’t available in your theme, it means the feature is not supported. The Farida theme supports visual menus, allowing you to use images as menu items. See setup guide: Geek theme series | Setting up a Mega menu.

Q: How do I upload images in the footer?

A: It depends on your theme:

  • Boost: In the theme editor, go to the Footer and upload your image under Payment icons.
  • Geek theme series: In the theme editor, go to the Footer, add a Subscription block, and upload images under App 1 and App 2. You can also set custom links for each image.

Q: Can I link multiple storefronts together?

A: Yes! If you're using a theme from the Geek theme series, go to the Header section in the theme editor, click Add block, and select the Multi-website block. Enter the name and custom URL for each store. You’ll need at least two storefronts for the links to appear. To link more, simply add additional Multi-website cards. Learn more: Geek theme series | Adding multi-website links.

Q: Can I change the position of the mobile menu?

A: Mobile menu placement is built into each theme and isn’t customizable. Themes like the Geek theme series, Hero theme series, Wind, OnePage, and Farida display the mobile menu drawer on the right side. Other themes display it on the left.

Product Page Customization

Q: Why don’t I see the product page in the theme editor?

A: The product page won’t show in the editor until you’ve added at least one product in your store. The same goes for collection and custom pages. To preview the checkout page, make sure there’s at least one published product that can be purchased.

Q: Why isn’t the sales volume showing on my product page?

A: Make sure the sales display is enabled based on your theme:

  • Life Style, Pluto, and Boost: Go to Theme settings > Products and toggle on the Sales option.
  • Nova 2023 theme series and Hero theme series: Add a Sales card to the Default product page under Product details.
  • Wind, Eva theme series, and Geek theme series: Add the Price and Sales card in the Default product page and enable Show sales display.

To show virtual sales, go to your Shoplazza admin > Products, open the product in the editor, and enable Virtual sales from the right-hand panel. For full instructions, see Product Page | Displaying virtual sales.

Q: Can I show PayPal or other quick payment buttons on the product page?

A: Yes! You can add several express checkout options directly on the product page, including:

  • PayPal Express Checkout
  • PayPal (credit or debit card)
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

These buttons make checkout faster and more convenient for your customers.

For step-by-step setup, refer to:

Q: Why aren’t product reviews visible?

A: To show reviews on your product page, go to the theme editor and add the Product Review card to your product detail layout. Make sure to publish your theme after adding the card.

Only one review card can be added per page. If you want to move it, delete the current card and re-add it where you’d like it to appear. For full instructions, see: Product Page | Setting up native product detail reviews.

Q: Why are some reviews not showing?

A: First, check in your Shoplazza admin to make sure all reviews have been published. Then, go to your Theme Editor > Product Detail Page > Product Detail Review card, and check if any filters are applied, such as showing only 5-star reviews. These filters may limit which reviews appear on your storefront. For full setup steps, see: Product Page | Setting up native product detail reviews.

Q: How do I display estimated shipping time?

A: Add a Shipping card to the product detail page and enable estimated delivery settings. Enter the minimum and maximum delivery days. For more details, see Product Page | Improving conversion with product blocks.

Q: How can I show product variants as image thumbnails?

A: In the theme editor, go to Theme Settings > Products > Color Swatch, and enter the variant name (such as “Color” or “Size”). Make sure each variant has an image assigned in the product editor. This feature is not supported in Life Style and Pluto themes. For setup instructions, see: Product page | Setting up variant thumbnails.

Q: Why doesn’t the product image change when selecting a variant?

A: Make sure each variant has a unique image. If all variants use the same image, the product image won’t appear to change. Then, go to Theme settings > Products and leave the Image switch variant field empty. This enables switching for all variant types. If you enter a specific attribute (like “Color”), switching will apply to that attribute only. For help setting up product variants and images, see Adding multiple variants for your products.

Q: How do I display a product subtitle?

A: Only certain themes support product subtitles.

  • Life Style and Pluto: Go to Theme settings > Products and enable the Subheading option.
  • Other themes: Open the Default product page layout in the theme editor and add the Subtitle card under Product details. If the Subtitle card is not available, the theme does not support this feature.

Q: How can I show product inventory on the product page?

A: To display inventory, you’ll need to enable it in your theme settings or product layout:

  • Life Style and Pluto: Go to Theme settings > Products and toggle on the Inventory display option.
  • Other themes: In the Default product page layout, open the Product information card and enable the Inventory display setting. You can also add the Current Inventory card to show stock levels as a range or simulate dynamic inventory messages. For details, see Product Page | Displaying inventory.

Q: Can I show secure payment icons below the Buy Now button?

A: Yes. You can either use the Booster & Store Conversion|Trust enhancement tool app or upload your own secure payment images directly in the theme editor, depending on your theme:

  • Hero theme series: Go to the Default product page, add a Payment icons card, and upload your image.
  • Life Style: Go to the Default product page, open the Dynamic checkout card, and upload your icons under the Order information area section.
  • Pluto: Go to Theme settings > Products and upload your icons under the Complete order info here section.

This feature requires you to provide your own payment images.

Q: Why doesn’t my linked custom page appear in the product description?

A: If you add both a Text Title and link a custom page in the Custom Content card, the manually entered content will take priority. If the card only contains a title with no description, nothing will appear. To display the linked custom page, make sure to leave the text fields in the card empty.

Collection Page Customization

Q: How do I show the same banner image on all collection pages?

A: In the theme editor, go to the Default collection page. Add a slideshow-style card such as Image Slideshow or Split Slideshow. Upload your image and drag the card to the top of the layout. This image will appear as a banner on all collection pages. For setup guidance, see Slideshow Cards | Adding a slideshow section.

Q: Why isn’t the collection description showing?

A: Check that the collection description is enabled in your theme settings:

  • Hero theme series and Wind: Go to the Default collection page, open the Collection card, and choose whether to show the description at the top or bottom of the page.
  • Eva theme series and Pluto: Open the Collection card and toggle the description setting on.
  • Other themes: Make sure the Collection description card is added and visible. If it’s missing or hidden, re-add or unhide it in the layout.

Q: How do I enable sorting on collection pages?

A: In the theme editor, open the Default collection page and toggle on the Show sort options inside the Collection card. For the Flash theme, this setting is found under Theme settings > Collection, where you can enable sort options directly. For step-by-step instructions, see Collections | Sorting products in collections.

Q: How do I add filters to a collection page?

A: First, go to your Shoplazza admin and create filter options under Collections. For full setup steps, refer to Store Navigation | Managing collection filters. Then, in the theme editor, open the Default collection page, click the Collection card, and enable the filter feature. If you're using multiple markets, please note that price filters will only display in your main market.

Q: Why are some filter tags missing?

A: Filters only display when the collection contains products with matching tag values. For example, if your filter includes the tag dress but none of the products in that collection are tagged dress, that filter will not appear on the storefront.

Custom Page Customization

Q: Why is my custom page preview blank?

A: In the theme editor, go to Custom Pages > Default Page Layout and check whether the Custom Page card is included.

  • If it's missing, click Add card, search for Custom page, add it, then publish your theme.
  • If only one specific page is blank, it may be using a separate template. Open that page in the editor, switch to its assigned template, and make sure the Custom page card is present. Add and publish it if needed.

Q: How can I let users download files from a page?

A: Upload your file under Settings > Media library and copy the file URL. In your custom page editor, highlight the text or button, then insert the link as a hyperlink. Once published, clicking it will start the download.

Q: Why can’t I switch to a custom page in the theme editor?

A: You need to create at least one custom page before it becomes available in the theme editor. To do this, go to your Shoplazza admin and navigate to Online Store > Themes. Click Customize on your active theme. Once inside the theme editor, open the top dropdown menu, select Custom pages, and click Add page. After the page is created, it will appear in the editor and can be customized as needed. For more guidance, see Custom page templates | Build and manage layouts in the theme editor.

Theme Settings

Q: How do I enable breadcrumb navigation?

A: In the theme editor, go to Theme settings > Extras, then toggle on Show breadcrumbs. This feature is not supported in the Flash, Life Style, and Pluto themes. For setup instructions, see Other Settings | Enabling breadcrumbs in your store.

Q: Why didn’t my theme font color apply to all cards?

A: Some cards, especially additional section cards, don’t follow the theme settings. If the card supports individual font settings, open the card and adjust the font color manually.

Q: Why is the Add to Cart button showing a variant price?

A: In the theme editor, go to Theme settings > Products. Turn off Enable variant price on 'Add to cart' button if you don’t want the selected variant’s price to appear on the button. For more details, see Other Settings | Showing variant prices on add to cart buttons.

Q: Why are the Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons missing?

A: These buttons are theme-dependent:

  • Life Style and Pluto: Enable Show Add to Cart button and Show Buy Now button under Theme settings > Products.
  • Other themes: Manually add the Buy button cards in the Default product page layout within the theme editor to display them.

Q: How do I change the site’s font style?

A: In the theme editor, go to Theme settings > Font/Typography and select the font you want to apply across your storefront.

Q: Why didn’t the theme image size apply to some cards?

A: Theme image size settings do not apply to Additional sections cards. If you want consistent image sizing across your site, replace them with standard theme cards or manually adjust each card's image settings. For recommended image sizes and more information, see Other Settings | Recommending image sizes for theme cards.

Q: Why are all my product titles in uppercase?

A: This is typically due to a setting in your theme’s typography.

  • Eva theme series, Hero theme series, and Wind: Go to Theme settings > Typography and turn off Capitalize headings.
  • Boost: Go to Typography and disable Uppercase product titles.
  • Other themes: If these options aren’t available, your theme doesn’t support title capitalization customization.

Q: How do I collapse variant options into a dropdown?

A: In the theme editor, go to Theme settings > Products and set the Variant style to Dropdown.

  • Flash, Wind, Nova 2023 theme series, Hero theme series, Eva theme series, and Boost: Update this under Theme settings > Products > Variant style.
  • Life Style, Pluto: Set Variant picker style to Dropdown under Theme settings > Products.
  • Geek theme series and OnePage: Dropdown variant style is not supported.

Q: How do I enable a Back to Top button?

A: This feature is not supported in the Flash, Boost, Life Style, and Pluto themes. For more details, see Other Settings | Using the To the Top button.

Checkout Page Editor

Q: How do I show all checkout steps on a single page?

A: In your Shoplazza admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your active theme. In the theme editor, open the top dropdown menu and select Checkout editor. Under Page Layout, choose One-page checkout. This setting combines shipping, payment, and order review on a single page for a smoother checkout experience. For detailed setup instructions, see Checkout Page | Setting up the checkout page in theme editor.

Q: How do I add payment method icons to the checkout page?

A: Open the Checkout editor from your theme customization screen. Scroll to the Footer section and toggle on Payment icons. These icons correspond to the payment methods added in Settings > Payments. Note that local payment methods are not supported and will not appear here. For detailed guidance, see Checkout Page | Displaying secure payment icons.

Q: Can I add custom payment instructions to the checkout page?

A: Yes! Design your instructions as an image, then upload it under Order Summary > Bottom image in the Checkout editor. This will display your message during checkout. For more flexibility, use the Booster & Store Conversion|Trust enhancement tool app to showcase trust signals or additional guidance.

Advanced Widgets (Page Builder)

Q: Can I create flexible layouts?

A: Yes. If the built-in theme cards don’t meet your layout needs, use Advanced widgets (also known as Page Builder) to create highly customizable and flexible content sections. This tool gives you full control over layout structure and design. For setup instructions, see: Page Builder | Quick Start Guide to the Editor.

Q: Can I show different content for desktop and mobile?

A: Yes. In Advanced widgets, you can add two identical components and set visibility for each device type:

  • For desktop: select PC only in the outer container’s visibility setting.
  • For mobile: select Mobile only in the second component.

Learn more: Other Settings | Editing PC and mobile content separately.

Q: Can I reuse custom layouts in other themes?

A: You can not copy widgets directly across themes, but you can save any configured Advanced widget as a template. Saved templates are reusable in all your themes. To use them, go to Advanced widgets, locate your saved template, and insert it into the layout.

Q: How do I display a row of videos in a carousel?

A: Go to Advanced widgets, open the Video section, and click Layout. Add a Video List or Video Grid card. Upload multiple videos and they’ll appear in a horizontal scrollable layout.

Q: Can I change the font for a single card?

A: Yes. In Advanced widgets, each component lets you adjust font size, weight, and color individually. However, the overall font family still follows your theme’s typography settings and cannot be overridden on a per-card basis.
