Upgrading Theme

Steps

  1. From your Shoplazza admin, go to Online store > Themes
  2. Click the mceclip0.png button next to the Customize.
  3. Click Upgrade
  4. If the message shows Theme upgraded, then you have successfully upgraded the theme.
  5. Once the theme is upgraded, a new theme with the title of Upgrade of + the name of the theme that you upgraded + upgrading time (e.g., Upgrade of Nova 2022 11:22:29 2022-08-23) will be generated in the Theme library section, and the upgraded theme is unpublished.
  6. Click the mceclip0.png button of the upgraded theme, then click Publish to display your upgraded theme in your storefront or publish the theme in the theme editor after completing the customization.

How can I tell whether I'm using the latest version of the theme or not?

You can click Upgrade inside the Actions button mceclip0.png . If it prompts that This is the latest version, it means that the theme you are using is the latest version. If the theme starts to be upgraded after you click Upgrade, it means that the theme you are using is being upgraded. After the upgrade is complete, it will prompt Theme upgraded, then you can set up and publish the upgraded theme.

Once the theme is upgraded, will it be published directly? Will the storefront apply the upgraded theme directly?

Once the theme is upgraded, a new theme with the title of Upgrade of + the name of the theme that you upgraded + upgrading time (e.g., Upgrade of Nova 2022 11:22:29 2022-08-23) will be generated in the Theme library section, and the upgraded theme is unpublished. Your current theme will not change. If you need to use the upgraded theme, you can either manually publish the theme or publish the theme in the theme editor after completing the customization.

Will the original theme settings be synchronized with the upgraded theme?

Once the theme is upgraded, it will synchronize all the settings you set through the theme editor in the original theme. There is no need to reset everything again.

After upgrading the theme, will the customizations edited/added via code still be there?

After the theme is upgraded, the original theme code will be overwritten, so the theme code you added/edited will not exist in the upgraded theme. If you need to bring back the  added/edited theme code, you can add/edit the code and debug in the upgraded theme code, and then publish the theme once it is ready.
